Rakhshan Division Commissioner abducted on Noshki-Kharan highway

Armed men have abducted Rakhshan Division Commissioner Asad Ullah Kakar on the Noshki-Kharan highway, close to where Kharan Deputy Commissioner Munir Ahmed Soomro was abducted last month.

According to Kharan police, the commissioner was travelling from Quetta to Kharan in a private car when unidentified gunmen blocked the road in the Barshonki area. They took the officer, his driver and the vehicle. The driver was later released and reported the incident after reaching Kharan.

No group has claimed responsibility so far. Kakar, an officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service, is the second senior government official taken from the area within weeks.
